POWER GRIDS PROTECTION

Four NATO and European Union countries bordering Russia plan to build concrete bunkers and anti-drone nets at vital energy facilities under a plan to protect their power grids following Russian drone incursions.

AIR SHIELD

Ukraine has proposed building a joint air defence shield with allies to protect against threats from Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Monday, after a series of airspace incursions that caused alarm on NATO's eastern flank.

INFLATION

The Polish Statistical Office will release preliminary inflation data for September at 0800. Analysts polled by Reuters expect it to have accelerated to 3.0% year-on-year from 2.9% in August.

SPEAKER OF THE PARLIAMENT

Szymon Holownia, Speaker of the Polish Parliament and leader of the ruling coalition member Poland 2050, announced his intention to run for the position of UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Gazeta Wyborcza daily reported.

JSW

Polish state-controlled coal miner JSW JSW.WA reported a net loss of 724.1 million zlotys ($199.1 million) for the second quarter late on Monday, compared to a loss of 6 billion zlotys in the same period a year ago.
