US Plains HRW Wheat-Basis bids steady as futures dipped

ReutersSep 26, 2025 10:37 PM

- Basis bids for hard red winter wheat were flat to lower in the U.S. Plains on Friday as futures ticked down.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Tuesday is expected to report domestic wheat stocks rose to 2.043 billion bushels on September 1 from 1.992 billion a year earlier, according to a Reuters poll of analysts.

  • Analysts estimated U.S. all-wheat production at 1.925 billion bushels, nearly flat with USDA's latest estimate for 1.927 billion.

  • Dry weather will benefit winter wheat planting in the central and southern Plains in the coming weeks, but if the pattern persists into the middle and end of October, then winter wheat germination could be stressed, according to forecaster Vaisala.

  • K.C. December hard red winter wheat KWZ25 ended 6-3/4 cents lower at $5.05-1/2 a bushel.
