NEW YORK, Sept 24 (Reuters) - An Italian navy ship sent to assist an international aid flotilla attacked overnight on its way to Gaza is not expected to use military force, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Wednesday.
Meloni, who spoke to journalists in New York where she is attending the U.N. General Assembly, said her government had proposed to hand over the flotilla's aid to Cyprus and the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem to prevent further risks.
She said Italy was expecting an answer from the Gaza flotilla activists about this compromise proposal.
