Sept 22 (Reuters) - Soybean basis bids were steady to up at river terminals, but flat to down at processors in a spot check of locations on Monday as futures sagged and rains were expected to aid the flow of major U.S. waterways.
The soybean basis rose at a river terminal in Toledo, Ohio and another in Davenport, Iowa.
The soybean basis fell at a processor in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Corn basis bids rose at an elevator in Blair, Nebraska and the river terminal in Toledo. It was mixed at ethanol plants.
Showers in the southeastern U.S. Midwest and Delta are expected to improve water flow on the Mississippi and Ohio rivers, where barges carry grain to the Gulf for export, according to an analyst note.
Those rains may slow down harvest progress but benefit crop development in those regions. But the western and northern Midwest are likely to see drier weather that will help advance the harvest, analysts said.
