CHICAGO, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Basis bids for hard red winter (HRW) wheat were unchanged at grain elevators in the southern U.S. Plains on Friday while protein premiums fell slightly for wheat shipped by rail to and through Kansas City.
Premiums declined by 4 cents a bushel for wheat with 11.2% through 12.4% protein, by 5 cents for wheat with 12.6% protein and by 4 cents for wheat with 13% through 14.5% protein. KCBT/SCA
Showers were forecast for parts of Kansas and Oklahoma over the weekend, potentially slowing the harvest of corn, soybeans and sorghum while also boosting soil moisture ahead of winter wheat planting.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture in monthly supply/demand reports cut its forecast of 2025/26 U.S. wheat ending stocks more than most analysts expected, to 844 million bushels, from 869 million previously.
But the government raised its projections of global 2025/26 wheat production and ending stocks.
U.S. wheat futures closed higher, as CBOT corn and soybean futures rallied. GRA/
K.C. December hard red winter wheat futures KWZ25 settled up 4-3/4 cents at $5.14-3/4 per bushel. For the week, the contract rose 9-1/2 cents a bushel, or 1.88%. WHE/C
