CHICAGO, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures rose on Friday, lifted by short covering ahead of the weekend and following a string of contract lows this week.
Wheat futures prices remain anchored by ample global supplies.
Grain traders are monitoring news from Friday's meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska to discuss a ceasefire deal for Ukraine. Russia and Ukraine are major grain exporters.
CBOT September soft red winter wheat WU25 settled 3 cents higher at $5.06-1/2 a bushel for a 1.6% weekly drop, its fourth straight. The contract fell this week lowest level for a most-active contract Wv1 since August 2020.
K.C. September hard red winter wheat KWU25 last traded 2-1/4 cents higher at $5.06-1/2 a bushel.
Minneapolis September spring wheat MWEU25 settled 2 cents lower at $5.70 a bushel.
