- (The Insurer) - Tropical Storm Erin, expected to become the first hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic season on Friday, is forecast to remain far enough offshore to spare the U.S. East Coast from significant impacts, ILS investment manager Twelve Securis said.

Erin formed on August 11 west-northwest of the Cabo Verde Islands and is tracking over warm waters, with forecasters expecting it to reach Category 3 or possibly Category 4 strength early next week, Twelve Securis said in an update on Friday.

The storm is projected to pass north of the northern Caribbean Leeward Islands before turning north between the U.S. East Coast and Bermuda around Monday.

Erin is the fifth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic season. The National Hurricane Center is monitoring tropical waves from Africa that could develop into storms over the next two weeks, before an expected lull in early September, Twelve Securis said.
