HOUSTON, Aug 13 (Reuters) - Shell SHEL.L shut the gasoline-producing resid catalytic cracking unit (RCCU) at its 231,827 barrel-per-day (bpd) Norco, Louisiana, refinery to begin a planned overhaul a month earlier than scheduled, people familiar with plant operations said on Wednesday.
A leak on a boiler feed water unit forced Shell to begin the planned overhaul on the 112,000 bpd RCCU immediately, the sources said. The overhaul was previously scheduled to begin on September 15 and last for about 50 days.
