CHICAGO, Aug 13 (Reuters) - Basis bids for corn were mostly steady to down at elevators, river terminals and ethanol plants in a spot check of locations in the U.S. Midwest on Wednesday as futures ticked up.
The corn basis fell at an elevator in Cincinnati, Ohio, a river terminal in Savanna, Illinois, and ethanol plants in Union City, Indiana, and Annawan, Illinois. It rose at a processor in Decatur, Illinois.
The soybean basis fell at Morristown, Indiana, and a river terminal in Seneca, Illinois. It rose at an elevator in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Corn futures ticked up on Wednesday, recovering after falling more than 3% in the previous session when the U.S. Department of Agriculture shocked the market with its projection of a record U.S. crop well above trade expectations. GRA/
Soybean futures climbed after the USDA lowered its harvest forecast, shifting a large chunk of planted area towards corn, which outweighed an increase in its soy yield projection to a record high.
CBOT November contract SX25 ended up 11-1/2 cents at $10.32-3/4 a bushel.
CBOT December corn CZ25 settled up 2-3/4 cents at $3.97-1/4 a bushel.
