CHICAGO, Aug 12 (Reuters) - Basis bids for soybeans were steady to mixed at processors in the U.S. Midwest on Tuesday in a spot check of locations. Corn bids were steady to down at processors and steady to up at river terminals.
The soybean basis rose 10 cents at a processor in Decatur, Illinois, and fell 3 cents at a processor in Decatur, Indiana.
The corn basis fell 2 cents at a processor in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and rose 2 cents at a river terminal in Davenport, Iowa.
U.S. farmers this year are expected to harvest the biggest corn crop on record, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a report on Tuesday.
The government predicted a record-high corn yield of 188.1 bushels per acre and also raised its estimate of corn acreage.
For soybeans, the USDA also predicted a record-high yield, but production is expected to fall 2% compared to last year due to reduced acreage.
As of 12:31 p.m. CDT (1731 GMT), CBOT August soybeans SQ25 rose 15 cents to $10.04-1/2 a bushel and the new-crop November contract SX25 was up 15 cents at $10.26-1/4 a bushel.
CBOT September corn futures CU25 were down 14-3/4 cents at $3.70-1/4 a bushel and new-crop December corn CZ25 was down 14-1/4 cents at $3.93-1/2 a bushel.
