US Plains HRW Wheat-Basis flat as futures sag

- Spot basis bids for hard red winter wheat were steady in a spot check of locations in the southern U.S. Plains on Tuesday as futures plummeted.

  • K.C. wheat futures took a dive as winter wheat harvests continued to progress globally.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a weekly crop progress report on Monday afternoon that the nation's winter wheat crop was 86% harvested vs. 80% a week ago.

  • K.C. September hard red winter wheat KWU25 fell to contract lows of $5.04-1/4 during the session before settling down 12-1/2 cents to $5.04-1/2 a bushel.

  • Protein premiums for railcar wheat shipped to and through Kansas City were unchanged for all grades of wheat. KCBT/SCA
