US terminates financial aid for big Midwest power transmission project

WASHINGTON, July 23 (Reuters) - The U.S. Department of Energy on Wednesday announced it had terminated taxpayer-funded financial assistance for the 800-mile (1,290 km) Grain Belt Express transmission project that would transmit power from Kansas to cities in the Midwest and East.
American farmers previously eschewed the $4.9 billion loan that was initiated by the Biden administration.
