CHICAGO, July 22 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn were steady to lower while the soy basis was steady to higher in the U.S. Midwest on Tuesday as futures were mixed.
The corn basis rose at an Indiana processor and an Illinois river terminal.
The soy basis fell at a Nebraska processor, Illinois river terminal and an Iowa ethanol plant.
Farmer sales of both commodities have been slow this week as cash prices are hovering near recent lows.
Warm weather and heavy rains have created a beneficial greenhouse-like effect for the corn and soy crops in the U.S. Midwest.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture rated 74% of the U.S. corn crop in good-to-excellent condition as of Sunday, the highest rating for this time of year since 2016 and unchanged from the previous week.
The USDA rated 68% of the soybean crop in good-excellent condition, down from 70% the previous week and below the average analyst estimate.
CBOT September corn futures CU25 were last down 3-1/4 cents to $4.00-1/2 per bushel, while new-crop December corn CZ25 was down 2-1/2 cents to $4.19 a bushel as of midday.
CBOT August soybean futures SQ25 were up 1/2 cent to $10.15-1/2 per bushel. New-crop November soybeans SX25 were up 2-3/4 cents to $10.28-3/4 a bushel.
