Parametric cover to protect incomes of Sri Lanka fishermen in unsafe weather

July 21 - (The Insurer) - Sri Lankan insurer HNB General has launched a parametric insurance product for fishermen unable to work in extreme weather, its partner telecommunications company Dialog Axiata said on Friday.
The parametric cover will be provided through an app, offered by Dialog and Sri Lanka's departments of meteorology and fisheries, that provides weather forecasts, emergency alerts and safety information to fishermen.
Day-boat fishermen can register for the coverage in the app. They will receive payouts in the event of officially declared cyclone conditions, Dialog said.
