CHICAGO, July 11 (Reuters) - Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures finished lower on Friday as advancing U.S. harvests expanded to supplies, while a bigger-than-expected spring-wheat production forecast knocked down Minneapolis wheat futures, analysts said.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is slated to issue a weekly update on winter wheat harvesting progress on Monday.
The agency, in a monthly crop report, estimated the nation's total wheat production at 1.929 billion bushels, up from a previous estimate for 1.921 billion. Analysts were expecting 1.915 billion, according to a Reuters poll.
The USDA pegged other spring wheat production at 504 million bushels, above analysts' expectations for 475 million.
CBOT September soft red winter wheat WU25 closed down 9-1/2 cents at $5.45 per bushel, after rising earlier in the session to a one-week high.
K.C. September hard red winter wheat KWU25 ended down 10-1/2 cents at $5.24-1/4 a bushel. Minneapolis September spring wheat MWEU25 was last down 18 cents at $6.13-3/4 a bushel.
