- (The Insurer) - Flash flood warnings remain in place across the Mid-Atlantic U.S. after Tropical Storm Chantal's landfall close to the border between South and North Carolina on Sunday morning.

Chantal, the third named storm of the 2025 Atlantic season, has since weakened to a depression but continues to bring heavy rain to the region.

In its 5:00 a.m. EDT (0900 GMT) update on Monday, the National Hurricane Center said flash flood concerns continue across south central and eastern Virginia, southern New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania.

In a LinkedIn post, BMS meteorologist Andrew Siffert said Chantal's impacts will be minimal with rainfall expected to be manageable.

Chantal's landfall near Litchfield Beach in South Carolina on Sunday made it the first named storm to hit the U.S. so far in 2025.

Andrea, the season's first named storm, did not affect land, while Tropical Storm Barry had weakened to a depression before it made landfall south of Tampico in Mexico last month.
