CBOT wheat ends higher on short-covering, technical buying

- Chicago Board of Trade soft red winter wheat futures rallied for a second straight session on Wednesday, supported by technical and fund buying and position squaring ahead of the long U.S. Independence Day holiday weekend, traders said.

  • CBOT September soft red winter wheat WU25 settled up 15 cents at $5.64 per bushel.

  • K.C. September hard red winter wheat KWU25 last traded 12 cents higher at $5.43-1/4 a bushel.

  • Minneapolis September spring wheat MWEU25 rose 20-1/2 cents to finish at $6.49 a bushel and CBOT September hard red spring wheat HRSU25 last traded up 12-1/4 cents at $6.35 per bushel.

  • The U.S. Department of Agriculture is due to release weekly export sales data early on Thursday. Analysts polled by Reuters expect net wheat sales of 200,000 to 600,000 metric tons for the week ended June 26.
