Incarnation Specialty adds Munich Re veteran Hernandez as head of marine cargo

July 2 - (The Insurer) - Newly appointed Lloyd’s coverholder Incarnation Specialty Underwriters has appointed Manuel Hernandez to its ranks as senior vice president and head of marine cargo.

The recruit brings over 30 years of industry experience to Incarnation Specialty, including senior roles at Roanoke Insurance Group and Munich Re Specialty Group Insurance Services.

In joining Incarnation Specialty, Hernandez will team up once again with his former Munich Re Specialty colleague Steven Weiss, who set up the Texas-based ocean and inland marine-focused MGA in 2023.

The hire of Long Beach, California-based Hernandez is the latest move Incarnation Specialty has made as it builds out its operations.

In early May, the MGA secured Lloyd’s coverholder status and, as a result, would benefit from expanded binder capabilities.

Indeed, the MGA can now offer limits of up to $15 million for cargo goods in motion and stock throughput coverage, as well as $15 million of protection for project cargo insurance with delay in startup.

The MGA can also offer limits of up to $1 million for inland marine coverage.
