Apollo names MS Amlin's Portman as energy head

June 19 - (The Insurer) - Apollo has appointed Steve Portman its head of energy, the company said on Thursday.

London-based Portman will report to Simon Mason, head of marine, energy and transportation.

He is expected to play a role in enhancing portfolio growth and market positioning within the energy division.

Portman has joined from MS Amlin, where he was lead underwriter responsible for driving profitable growth in the upstream energy portfolio. He has more than 24 years of experience in upstream and midstream energy insurance,

He previously held various roles at Lloyd’s brokers, including director positions at Thompson Heath & Bond and Howden.
