CHICAGO, June 11 (Reuters) - Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures closed narrowly mixed on Wednesday, awaiting fresh direction after weekly U.S. condition ratings improved this week and the winter wheat harvest was set to begin in much of the Northern Hemisphere, traders said.
CBOT July soft red winter wheat WN25 settled down 1/4 cent at $5.34-/14 per bushel while September wheat WU25 ended up 1/4 cent at $5.49.
K.C. July hard red winter wheat KWN25 ended down 1 cent at $5.26-1/4 a bushel while Minneapolis July spring wheat MWEN25 rose 4 cents to finish at $6.17-1/4 a bushel.
Market players await monthly supply/demand reports due on Thursday from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that will include updated estimates of U.S. 2025 wheat production. Analysts surveyed by Reuters on average expected the agency to increase slightly its estimate of the U.S. harvest.
Ahead of the USDA's weekly export sales report, also due on Thursday, analysts expected the government to report sales of U.S. new-crop wheat in the week ended June 5 at 400,000 to 600,000 metric tons.
