US Plains HRW Wheat-Basis bids flat with slow farmer selling and wet weather

ReutersJun 11, 2025 6:30 PM

- Spot basis bids for hard red winter wheat remained flat in the southern U.S. Plains on Wednesday as rainy weather continued to delay harvesting, according to dealers.

  • Dealers said there was little farmer selling with wet ground making it difficult to get the harvest started.

  • Forecaster Commodity Weather Group said rains in the Plains are expected to continue over the next 6-15 days.

  • Protein premiums for railcar wheat shipped to and through Kansas City rose 3 cents a bushel for wheat with 11 to 11.2% protein and were unchanged for all other grades.

  • Chicago Board of Trade July K.C. HRW wheat KWN25 futures settled 3-1/4 cents lower at $5.24 per bushel at 1:02 p.m. CST (1802 GMT).

  • Basis values are quoted against futures in cts/bu:
