CIF/FOB Gulf Grain-Soybean barge bids firm

CHICAGO, May 13 (Reuters) - Basis bids for soybeans delivered by barge to U.S. Gulf Coast terminals firmed on Tuesday, reflecting exporter needs and a slow pace of farmer offerings, traders said.

• CIF Gulf soybean barges loaded in May were bid at around 62 cents over Chicago Board of Trade July SN25 soybean futures, up 2 cents from Monday, and June soy barges were bid at 67 cents over futures, up 3 cents.

• FOB export premiums for soybeans loaded from the Gulf in June were offered about 77 cents over July soybean futures, unchanged from Monday.

• For corn, CIF Gulf barges loaded in May were bid at 65 cents over CBOT July corn CN25 futures, up a penny from Monday, and June barges were bid at 64 cents over futures.

• FOB export premiums for corn shipped from the Gulf in June were offered at about 74 cents over CBOT July corn futures, down 1 cent from Monday.

• The U.S. planting pace has been brisk in most areas. The USDA said the U.S. corn crop was 62% seeded as of Sunday, ahead of the five-year average for this time of year of 56%, and soybean planting was 48% complete, ahead of the five-year average of 37%.
