US Cash Crude-Grades broadly fall as crude stocks rise, API data shows

ReutersMay 13, 2025 8:51 PM

- Physically traded U.S. crude grades broadly slipped on Tuesday, dealers said, as stocks ticked higher and domestic refining demand weakened.

U.S. crude oil stocks rose last week while gasoline and distillate inventories fell, market sources said, citing American Petroleum Institute figures on Tuesday.

Crude stocks rose by 4.3 million barrels in the week ended May 9, the sources said on condition of anonymity.

On the demand side, Hunt Refining Company is operating its 50,000 barrel-per-day refinery in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at reduced rates following a fire last week, the privately-owned company said in a statement.

A fire broke out at the refinery's coker unit on May 7 as it suffered an external power outage while work was underway to restart it, the company said.

Elsewhere, Nigeria's Dangote oil refinery has canceled June maintenance at its 204,000 bpd gasoline-making unit as it completed planned works during an unplanned shutdown from April 7 to May 11, according to industry monitor IIR.
