White House says small businesses to get tariff relief through taxes

ReutersMay 1, 2025 1:50 PM

- Small businesses will see economic relief in the form of tax cuts, a top White House official said on Thursday after the U.S. Chamber of Commerce said it had asked the Trump administration for tariff exclusions.

Asked about the Chamber's request, White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller told reporters at a briefing: "The relief for small businesses is going to come in the form of the largest tax cut in American history."

The Republican-controlled Congress is seeking to pass legislation to extend U.S. President Donald Trump's 2017 tax plan, which expires this year.
