US Cash Grains-Soybean basis bids steady-higher as futures decline

CHICAGO, April 21 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for soybeans were steady to firmer at elevators and processing plants around the U.S. Midwest on Monday, supported by slow farmer sales and lower futures prices, grain dealers said.

Spot corn basis bids were mostly unchanged to slightly higher on limited farmer sales.

Rains across the central United States over the weekend stalled planting progress as farmers wait for the soil to dry out before resuming field work.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is slated to issue a weekly update on planting progress on Monday afternoon.

Soybean futures Sv1 were lower around midday, with May futures SK25 down 4-1/2 cents at $10.32-1/4 a bushel. Corn futures were narrowly mixed as the May contract gained a penny to $4.83-1/4 and deferred contracts eased.
