CBOT Trends-Wheat, corn down 1 cent to up 1 cent, soy up 6-7 cents

- Following are U.S. expectations for the resumption of grain and soy complex trading at the Chicago Board of Trade at 8:30 a.m. CDT (1330 GMT) on Thursday.

WHEAT - Down 1 cent to up 1 cent per bushel

Wheat futures fell under pressure from forecasts of rain in the U.S. and Russian wheat belts and an agreement to implement a ceasefire in the Black Sea.

But reaction to the U.S.-backed deal, involving warring parties Russia and Ukraine, has faded as traders saw little scope for boosting an already functioning Black Sea trade while doubting that Russian conditions would be met.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported a net 100,300 metric tons of U.S. wheat export sales for the 2024/25 marketing year, on the low end of analyst expectations.

CBOT May soft red winter wheat futures WK25 were last down 1 cent to $5.34-1/4 per bushel. K.C. May hard red winter wheat KWK25 was last up 3 cents to $5.68 per bushel, and Minneapolis May spring wheat MWEK25 was last up 4 cents to $5.89-1/4 per bushel.

CORN - Down 1 cent to up 1 cent per bushel

Corn futures seesawed amid expectations that high U.S. acreage numbers will be reported next Monday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported a net 1,039,600 metric tons in U.S. corn sales for the 2024/25 marketing year, on the high end of analyst expectations.

CBOT May corn CK25 was last up 3/4 cent to $4.52 per bushel.

SOYBEANS - Up 6 to 7 cents per bushel

Soybeans futures rose on positioning ahead of Monday's U.S. planting and stocks data from the USDA.

Prices have been curbed by the arrival of a bumper Brazilian harvest, though some market estimates have been lowered due to drought in the south of the country.
