CHICAGO, March 7 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans ticked up in the U.S. Midwest on Friday as industry players evaluated changes in U.S. trade policy while farmers remained reluctant to sell at relatively low prices.
The corn basis increased at an Ohio elevator, an Illinois river terminal and two ethanol plants. The basis decreased at an Illinois processor.
The soy basis increased at an Ohio elevator, Indiana processor and two Illinois river terminals.
Chicago corn and soybeans edged down on Friday, pausing after a two-day rally fuelled by U.S. tariff exemptions, with traders monitoring the next trade policy steps and awaiting U.S. jobs data.
On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump suspended the tariffs he imposed this week on most goods from Canada and Mexico, the latest twist in a fluctuating trade policy.
Farmers have turned focus to spring planting intentions.
Chicago Board of Trade May corn futures CK25 were up 5-1/2 cents to $4.69-3/4 per bushel at midday. CBOT May soybeans SK25 fell 1/2 cent to $10.27 a bushel.
