Updates with background on winter storm in paragraph 2, refining capacity in paragraph 3
Jan 21 (Reuters) - Citgo said on Tuesday it implemented a cold weather response at all three of its refineries, which includes extra operators, maintenance crafts, and management personnel in the refineries around the clock.
The rare winter storm churned across the U.S. Gulf Coast on Tuesday, bringing heavy snow, ice and wind gusts to a region where flurries are unusual, while much of the United States remained in a deep freeze.
Citgo operates three refineries, including the Corpus Christi Refinery in Texas, which has a capacity of 167,000 barrels per day (bpd). The Lake Charles Refinery in Louisiana and the Lemont Refinery in Illinois together contribute to a combined total refining capacity of approximately 807,000 bpd.
The company stated that, so far, the storm's impact has been limited, with disruptions mainly centered around logistics.
Earlier, North Dakota's oil production was estimated to have dropped by 130,000 to 160,000 barrels per day (bpd), according to the state's pipeline authority. Meanwhile, Port Freeport reported expecting limited vessel activity due to cold weather along the Texas Gulf Coast.
