US Cash Grains-Corn and soy basis bids mostly unchanged

ReutersJan 17, 2025 6:20 PM

Spot basis bids for corn and soy were largely steady at elevators, river terminals, ethanol plants and other types of processors around the U.S. Midwest on Friday after a week of farmer sales picking up, a spot check showed.

Corn futures Cv1 hit fresh one-year highs following a U.S. Department of Agriculture report the previous week that showed crop estimates lower than trade expectations.

Soybean futures Sv1 firmed once again after hitting multi-month highs and then falling back earlier in the week.

The spot basis for corn fell at an elevator in Blair, Nebraska and rose at another in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The soybean basis rose at the same elevator in Cincinnati.

Soybean futures Sv1 were up 12-1/4 cents at $10.31-1/4 a bushel at 11:39 a.m. CST (1739 GMT).

Corn futures Cv1 rose 7-1/4 cents to $4.81-3/4 per bushel, having hit their highest point since Dec. 14.
