MOSCOW, Jan 14 (Reuters) - Russian oil company Lukoil's LKOH.MM board of directors has appointed Sergei Kochkurov as chief executive officer, it said on Tuesday, replacing the previous CEO who was hit by U.S. sanctions.
Kochkurov will take over from Vadim Vorobyev, who was one of dozens of energy officials, oil traders, oilfield service providers, insurance companies and vessels affected by the latest package of U.S. sanctions.
The U.S. Treasury on Friday announced sweeping new sanctions against the Russian energy sector, including oil majors Gazprom Neft SIBN.MM and Surgutneftegaz SNGS.MM, to try to hinder Moscow in its war with Ukraine.
