FR40

The CAC 40 Index is Euronext Paris's flagship equity benchmark. It tracks 40 large and actively traded companies selected from the French market using market-value and trading-activity criteria. The index is weighted by free-float-adjusted market capitalization, subject to weight limits. Many constituents are multinational businesses, so the CAC 40 reflects global demand as well as conditions in France and is not a direct measure of French GDP. FR40 can react to European Central Bank policy, euro movements, French fiscal developments and company earnings. Luxury goods, aerospace, industrials and financials can shape performance differently from broader European indexes. The cash index cannot be purchased directly; exposure may be available through funds, ETFs, futures, options or CFDs. A platform FR40 quote may follow a derivative and differ from the official level outside Euronext Paris hours or because of dividend and financing adjustments.
