EU50

The EURO STOXX 50 Index is a leading blue-chip benchmark for the eurozone. It represents 50 large companies selected from participating euro-area countries to capture major sector leaders. The index uses free-float market-capitalization weighting with individual weight limits. It differs from the STOXX Europe 50, which can include companies from European countries outside the eurozone, such as the United Kingdom and Switzerland. EU50 is influenced by European Central Bank policy, the euro, regional growth, bank profitability, industrial demand and global trade. Many constituents operate internationally, making overseas demand important. The index cannot be bought directly; exposure may be available through funds, ETFs, futures, options or CFDs. An EU50 quote may follow a derivative and differ from the official cash index because of trading hours, dividends, financing or futures fair value. Consider country and sector concentration, and distinguish price-return from total-return series when comparing performance.
