AUS200

The S&P/ASX 200 Index measures 200 of the largest index-eligible stocks listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. It is a widely used investable benchmark for Australian equities, with constituents selected under S&P Dow Jones Indices rules and liquidity requirements. Float-adjusted market-capitalization weighting gives larger publicly tradable companies greater influence. Financials and resource producers can drive significant moves, so the index can behave differently from technology-heavy global benchmarks. AUS200 is affected by Reserve Bank of Australia policy, housing and credit conditions, commodity prices, Chinese demand, the Australian dollar and bank earnings. The index cannot be purchased directly; exposure may be available through funds, ETFs, futures, options or CFDs. An AUS200 quote may follow a derivative and differ from the official cash index because of extended trading hours, dividends, financing or futures fair value.
