Klaytn is a global Layer 1 public blockchain developed by the leading Korean IT company Kakao. Launched in June 2019, Klaytn is designed to power the next generation of on-chain applications and drive mass blockchain adoption. Klaytn has adopted the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) specification, making it Ethereum-equivalent from an interfacing and execution perspective. This allows developers to seamlessly port their Ethereum-based applications to the Klaytn network, leveraging their existing knowledge and toolsets. Since its launch, Klaytn has been accelerating blockchain mass adoption through a diverse range of use cases, from decentralized finance (DeFi) to real-world assets, entertainment, gaming, and even the Bank of Korea's central bank digital currency (CBDC) pilot project. Today, the Klaytn network has generated over 1 billion transactions from more than 300 decentralized applications, cementing its position as one of the leading Web3 ecosystems developed in South Korea.
