March 4 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened higher on Wednesday, lifted by mining shares as gold prices rose, while investors also weighed a report that Iran operatives secretively reached out to the U.S. to pursue talks to end the conflict.
At 9:31 a.m. ET, the S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 0.51% at 33,958.92 points.
