Mexican airlines, airport operators down after crime boss killed

- Shares in Mexican airlines Volaris VOLARA.MX and Aeromexico <AERO.N tumble more than 7%, while airport operators GAP GAPB.MX and ASUR ASURB.MX drop 4% after several airlines halted flights due to a wave of violence that followed the capture and death of a top Mexican crime boss.

"Some flights were suspended as a preventive measure by the airlines themselves, particularly to Puerto Vallarta," President Claudia Sheinbaum told a morning press conference.

"We hope the flights will be restored today, or tomorrow at the latest," she added, noting there were no cartel roadblocks as of Monday morning and the government was focusing on restoring security nationwide.

State capital Guadalajara and port city Puerto Vallarta, both popular with tourists, saw episodes of violence on Sunday including roadblocks and vehicles and businesses set on fire.

Mexico's peso MXN= is down 0.5% and its main stock index .MXX down 1%.
