Shares of U.S. paper and packaging firms fall in premarket trading

RBC notes that a RISI survey indicates majority of buyers reported lower containerboard prices in February, while an unusually large wave of European imports increased supply and added further downward pressure

Brokerage says prices of lineboard and medium, types of paper used to make corrugated cardboard, were both down $20 month-over-month to $925/ton and $815/ton, respectively

Shares of Packaging Corp of America PKG.N and U.S.-listed stock of Smurfit Westrock SW.N down more than 6% each premarket

Shares of International Paper IP.N were down 5.8%

In 2025, PKG fell 8.4% and SW was down 28.2%
