Feb 18 (Reuters) - India's equity benchmarks opened little changed on Wednesday, following modest gains in the previous session that were led by IT stocks after the Infosys–Anthropic deal.
The Nifty 50 .NSEI rose 0.11% to 25,752.65 and the BSE Sensex .BSESN added 0.12% to 83,553.59, as of 9:15 a.m. IST.
Fifteen of the 16 major sectors opened higher, but the gains were marginal. The broader small-caps .NIFSMCP100 and mid-caps .NIFMDCP100 rose about 0.2% each.
Analysts expect further consolidation in the benchmarks in the absence of key triggers.
On Tuesday, the Nifty and Sensex rose about 0.2% each, with the IT index .NIFTYIT up 1% as investors welcomed the potential for AI-led deal momentum after Infosys INFY.NS announced a partnership with Anthropic.
