STOXX EDGES UP AS BANKS BOUNCE
European shares edged higher in morning trading on Monday, supported by a rebound in the heavyweight banking sector .SX7P, which was hit last week when AI‑related worries spilled into the broader financials space.
The gains helped lift the pan‑regional STOXX 600 .STOXX by around 0.3%, offsetting weakness in basic materials .SXPP after their recent strong run and a drop in utilities .SX6P, which have been under pressure following suggestions the European Union should reform the carbon market.
Activity is expected to remain subdued with markets closed in the United States and much of Asia.
