TOKYO, Dec 9 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei share average edged lower on Tuesday, tracking overnight declines on Wall Street.
The market shrugged off a powerful offshore earthquake on Monday that did little damage and did not trigger a massive tsunami, despite an initial warning.
The Nikkei .N225 declined less than 0.1% to sit at 50,553.18 after the first hour of trade.
The broader Topix .TOPX slipped slightly to 3,383.93.
