BRITISH STOCKS HAVE TAKEN BIG FUNDS BY SURPRISE, SAY HSBC
Britain's FTSE 100 has outperformed global equities by around 4 percentage points, year-to-date, according to HSBC, while global and regional funds' UK holdings have fallen this year.
"The renewed price momentum seems to have taken institutional funds by some surprise," they say in a note.
The FTSE100 .FTSE is up around 12.5% year to date, a strong performance, particularly compared with 2024 when it only rose 5.6% and underperformed world stocks by double digits.
It's not too late though say HSBC, who still see room for funds to add to UK allocations.
The reasons for optimism they point to include easing credit conditions, rising labour market involvement and reasonable valuations.
