
ISTANBUL, July 3 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Thursday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 traded at 39.88 against the U.S. dollar at 0443 GMT, compared with a close on Wednesday of 39.851.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 1% higher at 10.189.02 points on Wednesday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian shares edged higher as investors braced for a key U.S. jobs report that may justify imminent rate cuts by the Federal Reserve and waited on the passage of a massive U.S. tax and spending bill in Congress.
JUNE INFLATION DATA
The Turkish Statistical Institute will announce June inflation figures (0700 GMT). The monthly rate is expected to be 1.45%, driven by a moderate trend in food and services prices, while the annual rate is seen dipping slightly to 35.2%, a Reuters poll showed.
WEEKLY DATA
The BDDK regulator will announce weekly banking sector data (1100 GMT), and the central bank will announce weekly money and banking statistics (1130 GMT).
CLIMATE LAW
Parliament passed Turkey's first climate law, which aims to address climate change in line with a green growth vision and net-zero emission target, state-run Anadolu agency reported.
JUSTICE MINISTER
Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc will meet his Dutch counterpart in the Netherlands, where he will also attend other events.
POPE VISIT
Pope Leo told First Lady Emine Erdogan that he aims to visit Turkey at the end of November, according to a readout of their meeting at the Vatican on Wednesday by the Turkish presidency.
FOREST FIRES
Crews continue to fight forest fires in the west including in Izmir, after some 50,000 people were evacuated earlier this week. The motoway from Izmir to Cesme was closed as a result.
SMALL PLANE CRASH
A pilot died and a passenger survived when a small private jet crashed in the northeast Rize region, authorities reportedly said after the wreckage was found overnight.
