EUROPE BEFORE THE BELL: A RALLY ON SHAKY GROUNDS?

European stocks are heading for gains at Monday's open, with Euro STOXX 50 futures STXEc1 ticking 0.5% higher while DAX futures FDXc1 add 0.6%.

FTSE FFIc1 are lagging, hovering just above flat.

With trade talk optimism fuelling markets, the bounce would continue Friday's rally which saw the STOXX 600 add 1.1% and the Nasdaq clock a record high.

But it's a rally that investors see as fragile. In the latest twist, Canada scrapped its digital services tax targeting U.S. technology firms late on Sunday, just hours before it was due to take effect.

Elsewhere, the trade deal signed between U.S. President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer lowering some tariffs on imports from Britain has come into effect, the British government said on Monday.

In company news, French heart prosthesis company Carmat ALCAR.PA has filed for insolvency, while Swiss Marketplace Group, which is considering an initial public offering, said on Monday it expects to post revenue growth of about 13-15% in 2025.
