STOXX MAKES TENTATIVE GAINS AS AEROSPACE, AUTOS PROVIDE LIFT

Europe's STOXX 600 .STOXX is ticking 0.1% higher, buoyed by defence and aerospace stocks which are still rallying following Tuesday's news of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel.

A basket of them .SXPARO is up 1.4% having risen 1.5% on Tuesday. But autos are slightly ahead .SXAP rising 1.6%.

In the UK, engineering firm Babcock BAB.L is surging 12.5% after upgrading its medium term forecast as it expects to benefit from the UK's plan to spend more on defence and energy.

Burberry BRBY.L shares meanwhile are at the top of the STOXX 600, up 5.3% after a broker upgrade.

On the flipside, French payments firm Worldline WLN.PA is sinking 23.3% to a record low.

Euro zone banks are the weakest sector on Wednesday, down 0.9%, while the broader banks basket .SX7P is off 0.6%. European media names are next in line .SXMP down 0.6%.
