WALL STREET STOCK FUTURES RISE ON HOPES OF IRAN-ISRAEL CEASEFIRE
Wall Street equity index futures are rising on Tuesday, with Nasdaq 100 futures NQcv1 up 0.9% and investors betting on a ceasefire between Israel and Iran even as media from both countries reported new Israeli airstrikes on Iran on Tuesday and U.S. President Donald Trump having said Israel had called them off at his command to preserve an hours-old ceasefire.
While ceasefire hopes boosted riskier assets, the dollar =USD fell and gold XAU= was off more than 1.5%. With concerns about energy supply easing, oil futures were down close to 4%.
Coming up on Tuesday, investors were awaiting Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's congressional testimony later in the day for clues on the near-term path for interest rates, as inflation is expected to accelerate in the coming months.
