The lira TRYTOM=D3 traded at 39.54 against the U.S. dollar at 0437 GMT, unchanged from Tuesday's close.

The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 0.11% lower at 9,339.59 points on Tuesday.

GLOBAL MARKETS

Concerns over escalating hostilities in the Middle East stayed front and centre in markets on Wednesday, sending oil prices higher and investors rushing for the safety of U.S. Treasuries and the dollar while dumping stocks.

IRAN-ISRAEL CONFLICT

Iran and Israel launched new missile strikes at each other on Wednesday as the air war between the two longtime enemies entered a sixth day despite a call from U.S. President Donald Trump for Tehran's unconditional surrender.

ERDOGAN PROGRAMME

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will address lawmakers from his ruling AK Party in parliament. (0900 GMT)

ENVIRONMENT MINISTER

Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum will hold a press conference in the southeastern province of Kahramanmaras. (1100 GMT)

TRANSPORT MINISTER

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu will visit Bulgaria, holding talks with officials including Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Jelyazkov.

OPPOSITION

OIL AND GAS SUPPLY

Turkey expects there to be no issues with oil and gas supply for its domestic demand amid the conflict between Israel and Iran, though energy prices could continue to rise, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said.

GREECE-TURKEY

Greece has protested a Turkish maritime spatial plan that designated zones for specific activities in the Aegean Sea of the eastern Mediterranean, accusing Ankara of attempting to claim areas of Greek jurisdiction in a move without legal grounds.

FAR-RIGHT LEADER RELEASED

A Turkish court ruled on Tuesday that far-right party leader Umit Ozdag should be released from prison, five months after he was jailed pending trial on charges of inciting public hatred, broadcaster Haberturk said.
