ECONOMY

(*) A federal appeals court temporarily reinstated the most sweeping of President Donald Trump's tariffs on Thursday, a day after a U.S. trade court ruled that Trump had exceeded his authority in imposing the duties and ordered an immediate block on them.

(*) President Donald Trump's administration is considering a stopgap effort to impose tariffs on large parts of the global economy under an existing law that includes language allowing for tariffs of up to 15% for 150 days, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

ISTAT releases Q1 GDP final data (0800 GMT); CPI May flash data (0900 GMT); April producer prices data (1000 GMT).

DEBT

Italian retail savers have shown less interest in a new inflation-linked government bond compared with previous issuances, bourse data showed on Thursday, as lower consumer prices have made returns less attractive.

Treasury offers new 7-year BTP Italia bond due June 4, 2032 to institutional investors only.

COMPANIES

TELECOM ITALIA TLIT.MI, POSTE ITALIANE PST.MI

Poste has finalised the purchase of an additional 15% stake in Telecom Italia (TIM) from France's Vivendi VIV.PA to become the telecoms group's largest investor with a 24.8% stake, a Consob filing showed on Thursday.

Poste Italiane has no short term plans to request changes at TIM's boards of directors and auditors after becoming the main investor in the telecoms group, a regulatory filing showed on Thursday.

The financial conglomerate has picked U.S. warehouse operator Prologis PLD.N and Italy's FBH as partners for its 1.5-billion-euro logistics plan, daily MF reported on Friday.

The group will hold its annual general meeting at 1200 GMT.

Italian pension fund Enpam, which holds a stake in of around 1% in Mediobanca, is expected to vote in favour of the group's takeover bid for private bank Banca Generali in the upcoming ordinary general meeting on June 16, La Stampa reported on Friday.

"Under an extremely theoretical" scenario the Italian insurer may walk out of the Natixis asset management deal with France's BPCE, Corriere della Sera reported on Friday, adding that if the accord goes ahead it will be finalised in early 2026.

UNICREDIT CRDI.MI

Russian investment firm A1 is not participating in the purchase of the Italian bank's Russian business, A1 CEO Alexander Fain told the Kommersant newspaper on Thursday, reacting to an earlier report from the daily.

BPER EMII.MI, POPOLARE SONDRIO BPSI.MI

The European Central Bank (ECB) has requested BPER to submit a plan for the integration of its takeover target Sondrio within six months of acquiring control, including an updated business plan and details on managing the IT systems, BPER said.

STELLANTIS STLAM.MI

The Alfa Romeo premium brand is set to postpone the launch of the new version of its Stelvio large SUV as it reassesses its strategies amid tepid demand for electric vehicles, two sources told Reuters on Thursday.

SNAM SRG.MI, ITALGAS IG.MI

(*) The Italian gas grid operator completed on Thursday an accelerated book building (ABB) process and sold over 83 million option rights related to Italgas' IG.MI capital increase, raising total gross proceeds of around 32.5 million euros.

Following the sale Snam will hold 25,883,804 option rights for the subscription of new Italgas shares.

CEO Paolo Gallo told Il Sole 24 Ore that funds could be among the potential suitors for the 600,000 electric meters the group will have to put on sale following the acquisition of 2i Rete Gas.

PIRELLI PIRC.MI

Camfin, the holding company of Pirelli's executive vice chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera, bought around 3.4 million Pirelli shares between 26 and 29 May at a weighted average price of between €6.19 and €6.28, rounding up its stake to 27.3% from just under 27%, according to regulatory filings.

SAFILO SFLG.MI

The eyewear maker said on Thursday it had renewed the supply agreement with Kering Eyewear until 2029.

The software company debuts on Euronext Growth Milan; listing ceremony with CEO Tiziano Cetarini (0615 GMT).

Bank of Italy publishes annual report, with keynote speech by Governor and ECB executive board member Fabio Panetta (0830 GMT).

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni ends mission in Astana (Kazakhstan) and attends "Central Asia-Italy" summit.

Brescia, farmers lobby Coldiretti holds event on "Food, economic engine of development and growth of the Italian system" (1630 GMT); expected attendees include Coldiretti President Ettore Prandini, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida.

Civitavecchia, Industry Minister Adolfo Urso attends conference "Investing in Italy: innovation meets tradition" on the occasion of the docking of the 'Amerigo Vespucci' ship (0900 GMT).

Genoa, 16th edition of the 'Labour festival' on "Ethics and sustainability at work. Skills, dignity, inclusion in the age of artificial intelligence" continues (0800 GMT); ends on May 31. On Friday expected attendees include Environment and Energy Security Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini, welfare institute INPS President Gabriele Fava, Economy Deputy Minister Maurizio Leo .
