Giorgia Meloni will host French President Emmanuel Macron for talks in Rome on June 3, the prime minister's office said on Wednesday.
Italian Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said on Wednesday he would resign if he were overruled on "golden power" conditions the government has tied to UniCredit's CRDI.MI bid for smaller bank Banco BPM BAMI.MI.

Italy raised 2.14 billion euros ($2.42 billion) with its latest 7-year inflation-linked BTP bond on Wednesday, Milan bourse data showed, taking total orders to 5.28 billion euros in the first two days of its offering. IT000564824=MI
Retail offer for the bond due June 4, 2032 continues on Thursday. On May 30 the offer is reserved for institutional investors.
Treasury sells up to 10 billion euros in two BTP bonds due July 1, 2030 and Oct. 1, 2035 and new CCTeu bonds due April 15, 2034. Subscriptions close at 0900 GMT.

(*) The Italian energy group's board is expected to approve on Thursday the acquisition of Acea's ACE.MI retail unit by its renewable and retail business Plenitude, MF reported.
The Italian major said on Wednesday it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cote d'Ivoire's Ministry of Agriculture to cooperate on producing vegetable oil for bio-refining use in agricultural and agro-industrial sectors.

(*) Italy's leading insurer may be slowing down on the asset management deal with BPCE's Natixis to focus on the offer Mediobanca MDBI.MI launched on its subsidiary Banca Generali BGN.MI, Il Sole 24 Ore reported on Thursday.
Rating credit agency Moody's raised on Wednesday its outlook on Italy's biggest insurer to "positive" from "stable" following a similar move on Italy's outlook on May 23.

Italy's fourth-largest bank said on Wednesday that the European Central Bank (ECB) had approved its acquisition of a controlling interest in smaller rival Banca Popolare di Sondrio BPSI.MI.

Europe's biggest gas distributor said on Wednesday it had set the price for its 1.02 billion euro right issue to fund the acquisition of rival 2i Rete Gas at 5.026 euros per share. The price represents a 24.82% discount from the theoretical ex right price (TERP) based on Wednesday's closing price.
