April 22 (Reuters) - Australian shares resume trading on Tuesday after a long weekend, with investors assessing Wall Street's sharp drop overnight on worries over the independence of the Federal Reserve after U.S. President Donald Trump ramped up attacks on Chair Jerome Powell.
The local share price index futures YAPcm1 closed at 7,834 points on April 17, as per LSEG data.
New Zealand's benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index .NZ50 fell 0.5% by 2317 GMT.
