POLITICS

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will meet President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday, seeking to ease tensions over U.S. tariffs on European goods and position herself as a bridge between Washington and Brussels.

A second round of Iran-US nuclear talks will be held in the Italian capital Rome on Saturday with Omani mediation, Iran's state media said on Wednesday.

U.S. Vice President JD Vance will visit Italy and India from April 18-24, the White House said on Wednesday, adding that he will discuss "shared economic and geopolitical priorities with leaders in each country."

COMPANIES

BANCA MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA (MPS) BMPS.MI

The bank will hold a shareholders meeting on Thursday which will vote on the capital increase needed for the full takeover of Mediobanca MDBI.MI (0800 GMT).

(*) Italian doctors pension fund Enpam, which owns just under 2% of the Tuscan bank, will vote in favour of the bid for Mediobanca, its Chairman told daily Il Messaggero on Thursday. The national engineers and architects pension fund, Inarcassa, which holds about 3% of MPS, will also back the offer, several papers reported on Thursday.

Shareholders representing just over 70% of the capital of the insurer will take part in next week's AGM, which will vote on the renewal of the board, daily la Repubblica reported on Thursday.

UNICREDIT CRDI.MI

Italy is likely to ask the lender to leave Russia as soon as possible among conditions the government can set to clear the proposed takeover of smaller rival Banco BPM BAMI.MI, a source close to the matter said on Wednesday.

Italy-based robotic company Comau signed a binding agreement to acquire full control of Automha. Automaker Stellantis has a 49.9% stake in the company.

The energy group aims to fully replace Russian gas with other suppliers 'as soon as possible', daily MF said citing a document sent to U.S. market regulator SEC.

MFE-MEDIAFOREUROPE MFEB.MI

The TV group controlled by Italy's Berlusconi family, on Wednesday proposed an 8% increase in its annual dividend and wrote down the value of its holding in German takeover target ProSiebenSat.1 PSMGn.DE.

MFE's bid on Prosieben is aimed at gaining more flexibility, and the Italian broadcaster would decide afterwards about any potential additional share purchase in the German company, CFO Marco Giordani said during a post-results call with analysts on Thursday.

BRUNELLO CUCINELLI BCU.MI

Italian luxury fashion group Brunello Cucinelli on Wednesday confirmed its expectations for sales growth of around 10% in both 2025 and 2026 despite looming U.S. tariffs.

MONCLER MONC.MI

The Italian luxury outerwear group on Wednesday reported a stronger than expected 1% increase in revenue in the first quarter thanks mostly to direct-to-consumer sales and Asian demand.

Annual and extraordinary shareholders' meetings (0700 GMT).

BEGHELLI BE.MI

First day of a two-day suspension from trading ahead of de-listing on April 23.
